Disney Cruise Bahamas Castaway Cay
Disney Castaway Cay is Disney Cruise Line's legendary private island in the Bahamas — the single most talked-about, most anticipated, and most universally loved element of any Disney Bahamian cruise. Castaway Cay is reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. You can only visit the island if it's included on your cruise itinerary no other cruise line's passengers can set foot here, no day visitors, no independent travellers. It is pure Disney magic, delivered in the middle of the turquoise Bahamas.
Disney Castaway Cay is 1,000 acres in size — about 3 miles long and 2 miles wide — but only 55 acres of the island are developed, so there's a huge swathe of untouched Bahamian wilderness surrounding the guest areas. The island is themed around a shipwreck backstory — the story goes that castaways built the island's structures from debris that washed ashore, giving the island its name and the whimsical, adventurous character that sets it apart from every other private island destination in the Caribbean.
Disney Castaway Cay has captivated Disney Cruise Line guests for over 25 years. When Disney purchased it in 1997, they transformed it into a haven for families looking for relaxation and adventure — its stunning white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush landscapes inviting visitors to unwind while enjoying various fun-filled activities. There is an undeniable enchantment that brings many families back year after year.
Disney Castaway Cay is located near Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, about 225 miles from Port Canaveral, Florida. There is a pier at Castaway Cay where Disney ships dock directly — guests walk right off the ship and need nothing but their ID and their Key to the World Card. The length of your stay will depend on your cruise itinerary, but usually it is 8 or 9 hours of fun. No tender boats, no transfers just step off the gangway and onto the beach.
